Shiron Lindsay ’08 has quietly purchased homes across the city and rehabbed them largely with her own sweat equity and savings to provide safe, dignified housing for some of Baltimore’s most vulnerable individuals: grandparents raising grandchildren, recovering addicts, individuals with disabilities, families emerging from homelessness.

To honor its founder, IAP will now be known as the C.D. Mote, Jr. Incentive Awards Program. The former UMD President is being recognized for contributions to the engineering field and for expanding education access for students from public high schools in Baltimore, Charles, Montgomery and Prince George's County.
